Familiarization

Our settling-in concept is designed to make the transition for children and parents to our daycare center as gentle and supportive as possible. We attach great importance to ensuring that children and parents feel comfortable and safe with us right from the start.

Principles

  • Every child is unique and needs individual support during the settling-in phase.
  • The acclimatization process is gentle and sensitive, taking into account the needs of the child and the parents.
  • The bond between child and caregiver is at the heart of the settling-in process.
  • Parents are important partners in the settling-in process and are actively involved.

Phases of familiarization

  1. Preparation phase: Before the settling-in period begins, a detailed intake interview is held with the parents. The needs and habits of the child and parents are discussed, such as eating and sleeping habits, allergies, etc. The first introductory appointments are arranged.
  2. Gentle separation: Familiarization begins with short separation phases during which the child is accompanied by a trusted caregiver. The duration of the separation is slowly increased to give the child time to get used to the new environment.
  3. Building the relationship: In this phase, the child develops a bond with the educational staff and makes initial contact with other children. The caregiver continues to be available to the child as a familiar anchor person. We always try to work with two caregivers right from the start.
  4. Integration: The child actively participates in group activities and feels increasingly comfortable in the daycare center. The acclimatization process is complete when the child has established a stable bond with the educational staff and is able to find its way around the group independently.

Involvement of parents

  • Parents are involved in the settling-in process right from the start and are actively supported.
  • Regular discussions between parents and educational staff serve to exchange information and reflect on the settling-in process.
  • Parents receive tips and support on how to manage the separation situation at home in a positive way and how to best support their child during the settling-in phase.

Continuous evaluation and adaptation

  • The settling-in process is continuously evaluated and adjusted as necessary to ensure that the needs of all children and parents are taken into account.
  • Feedback from parents and staff is actively sought and used to improve the settling-in concept.

Conclusion

Our acclimatization concept offers a loving and sensitive framework for the start in our daycare centre. We are convinced that a gentle settling-in process creates the basis for a trusting relationship between children, parents and educational staff.
